SmCo Permanent Magnets for Electric Turbocharging and Fuel Cell Air Supplies

The automotive industry's aim to reduce CO2 emissions from internal combustion engine vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles is bolstering the trend toward electric turbocharging. Electric turbochargers serve as a means to enhance performance in plug-in hybrids and mild hybrids while also curbing fuel consumption. Electric Turbocharging for ICE or Fuel Cell Air Supplies for Hydrogen Electric Vehicles

For hydrogen electric vehicles operating on internal combustion engines or fuel cells, air supply is critical. Within the fuel cell stack, hydrogen reacts with oxygen from the air, powering the traction motor. Ensuring this requires compact, efficient air compressors to produce the necessary airflow. Given their rotational frequency surpassing 100,000 RPM and a need for low latency, the operating temperature is around 200°C.
